Even though you wouldn’t know it by the blog, I’m still around and still geocaching. Other demands on my time have limited some of my geocaching adventures, but I do pick up a few here and there. I just haven’t had anything that seems worthy of posting about.
On August 10th, I attended SFV Geocachers Meet & Greet #19. Don mentioned that it was only my second event and that I hadn’t posted anything on my blog in a long time. So time to dust off the blog, even though I haven’t been too adventurous.
When I was working in downtown Los Angeles, I would cache on the way to work in the morning and during lunch. I have a couple of series of caches in the downtown area–Filling in the Gaps and Bridges over the Los Angeles River. Since I was laid off last November, I haven’t cached in the area. Many of my caches were in need of maintenance, so today was the day.
Actually, this morning was the morning. Wendy and I left Simi Valley before sunrise and drove into Los Angeles. We visited all my downtown and LA River caches, replacing logs and sometimes replacing a missing cache. Because we started early, we missed the heat of the day. On the way home, the thermometer kept rising. It settled on 109 degree after peaking at 112.
Once the “Beginning of School”-heat peaks, perhaps I’ll get back out on the trails and post some more adventures. And Don, I’m hoping to make my third event at SFV Geocachers Meet & Greet #20 in September.
